About Us

Laura Frances Kay
Founder, WordsUP

Thank you for choosing to visit WordsUP. Here, we celebrate your magnificence. Wherever you are on your life's journey, our mission is to provide you with tools that brighten your path. We're delighted that the Law of Attraction brought you here and hope you are nourished in what you are seeking.

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "Great are they who see that spiritual is stronger than any material force; that thoughts rule the world." In this spirit, I began WordsUP in 2000 with the purpose, intention and outcome of creating beautiful products for you with uplifting thoughts and words:

     - Products that support your choice to have, use and be with positive,
       empowering creative thoughts and words;

     - Products easy to incorporate into your busy life with inspiring messages that
       remind and encourage you to keep your words and thoughts up;

     - Products that, when you see or read them you connect with positive, loving,
       uplifting energy - loving energy that is within you and expresses as you;

     - Products that celebrate you as a spiritual being having a human experience;

     - Products that inspire and comfort you when you can use an uplift;

     - Products whereby simply having them around uplifts your home, car, office,
       wherever, and when you see them you (and others) are uplifted as well.

Goethe wrote, "Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has great power and magic in it. Joseph Campbell instructed, "Follow your Bliss." Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." WordsUP is the product of my dream, outcome of following my bliss, and evidence that what is imagined can come into being. With much gratitude, our WordsUP team - "VP's of SoulBling" offer you these products, knowing they will be cherished tools in accompanying you as you dream, imagine and follow your bliss.

Making special gifts with personal touches for my friends and family has brought me much joy ever since I was a child. With that same love and detail, WordsUP products are created for you. Little touches like the WordsUP tag with 'gratitude' printed on it, and a fluffy feather enclosed in a box of affirmation cards, and a shiny Swarovski crystal adorning an angel wing - little loving touches contribute to the inviting energy you feel in our products and make them truly special gifts. When we're packaging cards, sewing eyepillows, or jewelling the Blingwings we have a saying, "In love, this is going home to somebody." Each item is truly made with loving intention as if it's already yours.

All of the WordsUP products are so divinely inspired; it brings us to deeper levels of gratitude to witness how the 'right and perfect' resources appear to birth them into being. For example, our WordsUP affirmation fabric is custom written and produced. I love how when I had the idea for the affirmation fabric, my college friend, Kate Keller, a textile designer in LA reappeared in my life! (Thank you, Kate!) And, when choosing to find a web designer who would resonate with wordsUP, I did a search for designers with 'positive' words in their name. My search started with a word I had taped to my computer, 'transformation'. Indeed, my search was by divine appointment, as it resulted in the perfect WordsUP web designer - Craig Hanke at 'Transformation' (Thank you, Craig!) In following the path that WordsUP is taking, we get to witness demonstrations like this regularly.

So, you see, a WordsUP mini-pillow is more than just a mini-pillow, an affirmation card is more than just an affirmation card; a BlingWing is more than just a BlingWing. Our products carry with them the loving and inspired intention in which they were conceived, birthed, and brought UP into being here for you now. May WordsUP inspire you to follow the path of your bliss, may our products delight you, and may you be blessed with love, joy and peace on your sacred journey. Welcome.

Feathers

What do feathers have to do with words, and why do we love feathers? During the crossroads on my path when I was beginning WordsUP, every time I asked for 'confirmation' or 'direction' I found a feather.

Feathers showed up in the most unlikely of places - the inside corridor of a hotel in Paris, the passenger seat of my car, the aisle of a supply store, the center of an indoors labyrinth. And, to this day I am finding feathers! Now I ask myself, "Did I find this feather, or did it find me?"

It's such a blessing to meet and hear from many of our WordsUP customers who also 'find' feathers, and those who write and say they found one for the first time! Contact Us. To keep your feathers in a sacred place, we've even created a special mini-tote adorned with our signature feather motif! And, in celebration of feathers visit our SoulBling sanctuary to pick an on-line feather with a message especially for you!

Gratitude

At the time I was beginning WordsUP, my sister, Cindy, age 37, was in the hospital recovering from a surgery related to breast cancer. She called me on the phone and with such conviction in her voice she said, "Laura, I'm here in this hospital bed with nothing worthwhile on TV and I can't even lift a book. When you get that WordsUP company of yours going, make something for someone in my position." In love I followed Cindy's suggestion and am grateful for her angelic support.

A year after my sister's transition, her daughter, Karoline, age 5, and I went to that same hospital to give patients mini-pillows. The administrator led us to the first room. Karoline looked up at me and said, "Oh Aunt Laura, that's the room where Mama stayed." With tears welling up in our eyes, I hugged her and said, "Remember when we would visit your Mom and those nice ladies would come in with a little gift and they brought sunshine to fill the whole room? Now, we're the bringers of sunshine." A big smile came across little Karoline's face and she said, "Yes, we are, Aunt Laura!"

Then, grabbing a pillow from the basket, Karoline marched into the first room and said, "Hi! I'm Karoline. Here's a pwesent from our company, WoooodsUP. We bwing you sunshine." With enthusiasm, confidence and grace Karoline went into each room giving pillows and bringing sunshine. The patients held on to those little pillows with such gratitude.

So many patients and their visitors gave Karoline gifts - an angel pin, a flower, a stuffed animal, a dollar bill - whatever they had in their room or in their purse. Walking back to the car, Karoline looked in her pillow basket now filled with gifts. She said, "Aunt Laura, look, we came to give pwesents and now we're bringing home pwesents!" I replied, "See how it works - the love you give out is the love you get back in return." Karoline, now age 12, is one of WordsUP "VP's of SoulBling".
